Championship Point System

CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB, USA
CHAMPIONSHIP POINT SYSTEM
as of 2/21/13

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To enable and encourage breeders/owners to evaluate the product of their breeding programs in widespread competition under competent, knowledgeable judges.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: To encourage the sponsoring of regional shows under CKCSC, USA regulations.

SYSTEM: At CKCSC, USA or CKCSC Regional Championship shows held under CKCSC, USA regulations, points will be awarded as follows:
    Best in Show (BIS): One point more than the highest number of points available to either sex based on the Major points from the scale of points below.

    Reserve Best in Show (RBIS): One point less than Best In Show.

    Winners Dog (WD) and Winners Bitch (WB): Highest number of points available in sex based on the Major points from the scale of points below.

    Reserve Winners Dog (RWD) and Reserve Winners Bitch (RWB): One point less than Winners Dog or Winners Bitch.

    Best Puppy Dog/Bitch: Highest number of points available from the Junior and Senior Puppy Classes based on the Class points from the scale below. If the total puppies competing in both puppy classes for that sex was four (4) or more, Best Puppy Dog/Bitch would be awarded the 1 or 2 class points even if either or both classes had less than 4 entries.

    Best Puppy In Show: One extra point plus the highest number of points available from the Junior and Senior Puppy Classes based on the Class points from the scale below. If the total puppies competing in all puppy classes was four (4) or more, Best Puppy In Show would be awarded the 1 or 2 class points regardless of the number of entries in each puppy class.

At any given show, the dogs chosen Best In Show and Reserve Best In Show will retain only the points conferred for that win. Dogs wining Major Points will not retain Class Points in that show. No Cavalier may receive class points from more than one win at any one show.

    AWARD OF TITLE, CHAMPIONSHIP CERTIFICATE, AND PEDIGREE DESIGNATION AS CHAMPION:
    A dog or bitch must accumulate 10 points at CKCSC, USA or CKCSC Regional Championship shows held under CKCSC Regulations. These 10 points must include two Major wins (3 points or better) under two different judges in two different shows, in addition to at least one point under a third judge. Best Puppy In Show is not considered a Major win.

    AWARD OF JUNIOR WARRANT AND PEDIGREE DESIGNATION:
    A dog or bitch must accumulate 10 class points at CKCSC or CKCSC Regional Championship Shows before the age of 18 months. Class points include the extra point awarded to Best Puppy In Show. Dogs/bitches from classes with less than 4 dogs competing who win Major Points will be awarded the appropriate number of class points plus one extra point towards the designation of Junior Warrant only. Dogs/bitches from classes with 3 dogs competing who are not otherwise awarded a championship class point will be awarded 1 point towards the designation of Junior Warrant only.

    The Board of Directors is authorized to modify the Scale of Points or number of points needed to qualify for the title of Champion as and if the number of Cavaliers and/or shows change.
