The CKCSC, USA Top Twenty Gala & People’s Choice Award

will be held on Friday evening, October 19, 2012, in conjunction with National Specialty Weekend in Parsippany, NJ

The premiere of the CKCSC, USA Top Twenty & People’s Choice Award Gala will be held on the evening of Friday, October 19, 2012 in conjunction with CKCSC’s National Specialty weekend in Parsipanny, NJ. The event is to showcase those Cavaliers who best exemplify the breed. We are proud of these dogs and bitches for they are truly the Best of the Breed.

Dress will be Casual Elegance. Be prepared for a night of the finest attire, whispers, loud applause and excitement!

The “Top Twenty” is a competition of the year’s most successful CKCSC, USA conformation Cavaliers. The top twenty Cavaliers will be formally invited to enter and participate in what we hope will continue to be a Gala evening at every CKCSC National Specialty. Each of the Top Twenty Cavaliers will be judged individually by three judges from three different categories (see below), the names of whom will be kept secret until the moment of the competition.

During the evening, as the Top Twenty Cavaliers are being judged, spectators are given a chance to participate as People’s Choice Award ringside judges, filling in a ballot to indicate their personal favorite from the Top Twenty. The ballots are deposited into the ballot box at the end of the evening. These ballots will be tallied and the winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Banquet on Saturday evening and presented with a prize.

Friday evening is a night of celebration! There will be a Parade of Champions, a Parade of New Champions, a Parade of Major Winners (since and including the last National Specialty) and our Top Ten Junior Handlers will be recognized.

It is a glamorous mix of top winning show dogs, both old and young, an elegant cocktail party, cash bar and gourmet food.

Come and enjoy the dogs with friends attending the Gala, and celebrate a bright future for our beloved Cavaliers.

This Gala is important to the CKCSC, USA and we want to be sure you realize just how much your support means for the future well being of our breed. Whether you are fortunate enough to own one of the very best Cavaliers in the country and have been invited to compete in the Top Twenty Gala or whether you are simply coming to enjoy the Gala and the celebration of these top winning dogs. All of you who attend must know that your participation is helping make the future of Cavaliers better and brighter.

Eligibility & Rules:

The Top Twenty pointed Cavaliers will be invited to compete, as well as the Top Three Cavaliers of each color, if not already in the Top Twenty. Points are accumulated from October 1st of the previous year to October 1st of present year.
For a list of dogs that are currently in the Top Twenty, go to www.CKCSC.org – Conformation Info.

A Cavalier may win the Top Twenty Award just once. If a dog remains in the Top Twenty having won in previous years, that dog may be entered for Exhibition Only.

To compete in this event, all owners and co-owners of finalists must be in good standing with CKCSC at the time the invitations are extended and at the time of the event.

Chair(s) of the Top Twenty Gala are ineligible to compete, but can enter for Exhibition Only.

Mystery Judges:
The identities of our three judges are kept secret until the evening of the Top Twenty Competition. The judging panel is ultimately chosen and known only to the Chair(s) of the Gala.

Judges are drawn from three categories:

1. Licensed Cavalier Breeder/Judge
2. CKCSC, USA Breeder with in depth knowledge of the breed
3. A licensed all-breed judge, not a breeder or owner of Cavaliers.

All judges must be well-qualified to judge dogs.

Excluded from judging this event are the Gala Chair(s); any person who is listed on the slate of judges over the weekend of the CKCSC, USA National Specialty (except for Puppy/Veteran Sweeps judges), and any person who has previously judged this Gala in any of the three categories over the past 10 years.

Prizes:
The winner of The CKCSC, USA Top Twenty competition will receive a museum framed glicee of the original piece of artwork for the 2012 National Specialty. The original will be auctioned off at the banquet.

ALL exhibitors will receive a large commemorative rosette personalized with their dog’s name.

The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a commemorative prize and a large rosette.
